““A
world in which there are monsters, and ghosts, and things that
want to steal your heart is a world in which there are angels,
and dreams and a world in which there is hope.” ~ Neil

A
Merry Halloween From The Toymaker!
You
are more than welcome to share this email with your friends
and family.
When
I was a little girl my granddad would send us a box every
October filled with Halloween decorations. It was a delight,
paper mache pumpkins, paper ghosties with bow ties, honeycombed
paper black cats and one year, little battery operated
glass jack-o-lanterns that you could turn on and off.
They were wonderful and mysterious. I think this is where
my love of all things Halloween started.
I
also loved dressing up, trying on different costumes to
be something besides just a small girl. I could be strong
as Mighty Mouse, clever as Snoopy, or a magical fairy
who could fly and grant wishes. When I got a little older
I learned to sew my own costumes, which was great fun.
I
think that it is good for kids to get a chance
to dress up and play pretend. Being a five-year-old
super hero is a very powerful thing indeed.
(Computer Tip – If the new toys are not showing up
on your screen, try hitting the refresh button on the browser
bar. If that doesn’t work try emptying your cache.)
Every
chapter in A Year In The Secret Garden unfolds
a new adventure month by month.
This
October you can learn about planting bulbs, paper cutouts
of the characters, how to make a Ploughman's Lunch and meet
the housekeeper of Misselthwaite Manor, Mrs. Medlock.
Preorders
of the print edition were shipped out this weekend, so if
you have already purchased your copy it should be arriving
soon.
