Make
a Valentine for someone special

The first step is to find out what you love - and don't be practical
about it. The second step is to start doing what you love immediately,
in any small way possible. I've seen what happens to people when
they get to do what they love. They light up. They glow. They
have a kind of energy that's wonderful.

Hello
and hello!
I'm just a little bit melancholy in the midst of all these hearts
and flowers. The boy is away at Science Camp this week and we
miss him something fierce. It's like the heater is turned off
in the house leaving every room a little less warm.
We are coping. We take turns yelling, "Put the cat down!"
just to stay in practice. We toss odd pieces of Legos about just
so we don't get too used to being able to walk barefoot to the
bathroom in the middle of the night.
Part of me is fretting that he’ll be too cold, or lonely,
or tired, and the hundred thousand things moms worry about every
hour of the day. My good brains tell me that he has a lot of friends
and a really good teacher and the camp is a super time with tons
of snow to play in.
Another part of me is nervous that he will come back all grown
up somehow. I know that it is every kid’s job to learn to
be independent and it’s every parent’s job to help
that kid get to the place of self sufficiency. But, oh bother!
It’s just hard, you know!
Wishing you a warm Valentine’s Day with just a little chocolate
and a whole lot of love,
Best thoughts,
